Unidentified assailants have ruthlessly killed a couple, suspected to be husband and wife, and callously left their lifeless bodies in the trunk of their vehicle—a Toyota Camry with the registration number EE-621-EU.
The shocking discovery of the two blood-soaked corpses occurred at a desolate location along the Tempo Junction, Umunya stretch of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway during the early hours of Wednesday. A video circulating on social media captures the dark-colored Toyota Corolla surrounded and inspected by onlookers. The vehicle’s doors are ajar, revealing the grim sight of the two fresh corpses crammed into the boot.
The evident blood dripping from beneath the vehicle boot suggests that the victims met a recent and violent demise. Confirming the incident, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, verified the details. He stated that the police personnel from the Oyi Division discovered and transferred the two lifeless bodies to a mortuary. Concurrently, investigations have commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths.
“Police personnel attached to the Oyi Division led by the DPO at about 7:30 am today 24/1/2024, have recovered two lifeless bodies, abandoned in a car boot along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. The operatives also recovered the abandoned vehicle and some expended cartridges at the scene. Meanwhile, bodies have been deposited in the morgue and investigations have commenced.
“Preliminary information revealed that those persons, a man, and woman, with marks of violence and gunshot injuries all over their bodies, were murdered and abandoned in a black Corolla car with reg plate number Lagos AAA 621 EU. Further details shall be communicated, please,” Ikenga added.
