In a tragic incident in Dutse, Jigawa State, 47-year-old Esther Adekanla, known as Hadiza Nakowa, fell victim to unidentified gunmen who allegedly murdered her on Thursday.
The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the chilling incident.
According to a resident, Esther Adekanla, a food vendor, was last seen on February 12, 2024. Concerns arose among neighbors when attempts to contact her proved unsuccessful.
The horrifying event occurred on Thursday evening and was promptly reported to the police.
Detailing the grim discovery, the police spokesperson stated that detectives from the Dutse Division forcibly entered her residence, uncovering a distressing scene.
“The lifeless body of Esther Adekanla was found in the sitting room, bearing visible cuts on her head and neck,” Shiisu disclosed. Additionally, her 11-year-old daughter, Christiana Michael, was discovered alive but unconscious, locked inside a store with head injuries.
Both victims were swiftly rushed to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention. Tragically, Esther Adekanla was pronounced dead by medical personnel, and her body was transferred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for further examination through autopsy.
The State Police Commissioner, AT Abdullahi, has ordered a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice is served. Abdullahi reiterated the commitment to prosecute anyone found complicit in the heinous crime.
