Benin City’s hospitality sector received a significant boost with the inauguration of Maia Hotel and Suites, a 50-bed facility, by Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki. Constructed within a year by Canada-based entrepreneur Fatai Efehi Mustapha, the multi-million dollar hotel offers accommodation featuring an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a terrace, and a bar.

During the recent inauguration ceremony, Governor Obaseki, represented by the state commissioner for Arts & Tourism, Uyi Oduwa Malaka, commended Mustapha for choosing Benin City as the location for the hotel. Recognizing the pivotal role of the hospitality and tourism sectors in economic development, the governor highlighted the potential of Edo State as a vibrant and thriving destination.

Describing Maia Hotel as the latest addition to the state’s tourism landscape, Malaka emphasized the positive impact on job creation for the youth. She expressed pride in Mustapha’s investment in Edo State, pledging government support to foster business growth.

Fatai Efehi Mustapha, the MD/CEO of the hotel, shared his decision to invest in Edo State over Canada, noting the employment of over 60 people as part of the initiative to empower the local community. The hotel promises quality leisure experiences, featuring well-decorated spaces, 50 uniquely designed rooms and suites with modern amenities, a wellness area, a swimming pool, a pool bar, and a casino.

The hotel’s restaurant caters to diverse culinary preferences, offering African, American, and continental cuisines with 24-hour room service. Additionally, Maia Hotel provides entertainment for children with a 360 Camera Booth and a dedicated playground. The establishment prioritizes guest security, maintaining round-the-clock armed security personnel.
