NiMet’s weather outlook for the upcoming week, released in Abuja on Sunday, indicates a diverse weather pattern across different regions of Nigeria.

In the northern region, a sunny and hazy atmosphere is expected throughout the forecast period. However, localized thunderstorms are anticipated in Taraba and Kaduna states during the evening on Tuesday.

Moving to the North Central states, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are forecasted, with the possibility of localized thunderstorms primarily in Benue State during morning hours. Later in the day, similar conditions are expected in parts of Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, and the Federal Capital Territory.

In the southern and coastal areas, increased cloudy conditions are anticipated in the mornings, with chances of morning thunderstorms over several states including Imo, Enugu, Rivers, and Delta. Later in the day, localized thunderstorms are expected in various states including Ogun, Edo, Oyo, and Lagos.

Wednesday’s forecast maintains a sunny and hazy weather condition in the northern region. However, cloudy skies with early morning thunderstorms are expected in parts of Plateau, Nasarawa, and the Federal Capital Territory. Later in the day, localized thunderstorms are forecasted over parts of Kwara, Nasarawa, and Kogi states.

Similar to previous days, the inland cities of the South and coastal areas may experience cloudy skies with the possibility of morning thunderstorms. In the afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms are predicted in several states including Abia, Ogun, and Rivers.

NiMet advises the public to take necessary precautions, especially as strong winds may precede rainfall in areas expecting thunderstorms. Additionally, high temperatures persist, particularly in the North, so staying hydrated is essential. Airline operators are urged to stay updated on weather reports for effective planning in their operations.
