Fatal Accident Claims Woman’s Life in Anambra

Tragedy struck along Owerri Road in Anambra as a female passenger lost her life in a collision involving two vehicles opposite Ihembosi Junction, Okija. Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra, confirmed the incident.

The accident, attributed to route violation and speeding, occurred between a Nissan commercial bus registered as NEM608XA, owned by Rivers Joy Mass Transit, and a Nissan Pathfinder Jeep with an unidentified registration number as the driver fled the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, the collision led to the Nissan commercial bus losing control and somersaulting. Out of the 10 individuals involved, comprising four male adults, five female adults, and a male child, one female adult lost her life. A male adult and a female adult sustained injuries, while the remaining seven emerged unhurt.

Community youths swiftly transported the victims, including the deceased, to F.S Kings Hospital, Umuohi in Ihembosi. The deceased victim was deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.

Mr. Irelewuyi expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery. He emphasized the importance of safe driving practices, urging motorists to avoid driving against traffic and to adhere to safe speed limits.

“Road safety is everyone’s business; drive to stay alive. Let us keep our roads safe from accidents,” Irelewuyi emphasized.
