Peter Nwachukwu, the late gospel singer Osinachi’s husband, is facing legal action from the federal government.
The Attorney-General of the Federation has charged Peter with 23 counts in connection with Osinachi’s killing.
The Administration of Criminal Justice Act of 2015, Sections 104 and 379, were used to charge Peter.
On April 8, Osinachi died as a result of her husband’s suspected domestic violence.
Peter was detained after she died so that an autopsy could be performed.
The autopsy report was given to the police, according to the National Hospital in Abuja.
Peter has now been charged with culpable homicide in violation of section 221 of the Penal Code, which is punishable by death, in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Mrs Yewande Gbola-Awopetun, the Head, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, Department of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Ministry of Justice, filed the case, which has the charge number CR/199/2022.
“That you Peter Nwachukwu, 56, male, did commit an offence to with: culpable homicide punishable with death on the 8th of April, 2022 at Aco Estate, opposite police station, Lugbe, Abuja, FCT, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, in that you caused the death of Mrs Osinachi Nwachukwu by your various acts of violence and aggravated assault with the knowledge that her death was preventable by your various acts of violence
