STAND UP NIGERIA, a civil society organization, has expressed commendation for the Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for his commitment to prioritizing the training of NSCDC personnel. The organization lauded the recent arrest of a vessel carrying 3,000 tons of stolen crude oil as a significant achievement resulting from enhanced capabilities acquired through personnel training.

In a statement released in Abuja yesterday, the National Coordinator of STAND UP NIGERIA, Comrade Sunday Attah, acknowledged the leadership of NSCDC for demonstrating capacity in safeguarding national assets, particularly amidst concerns about the rising incidents of oil theft, illegal bunkering, and infrastructure vandalism.

Attah emphasized that the NSCDC’s marine anti-vandal squad, equipped through various training programs, including those provided by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), has been instrumental in the recent successes against economic saboteurs.

The statement praised the Commandant General’s proactive approach in ensuring that NSCDC personnel receive quality training, leading to tangible achievements in countering maritime and pipeline vandals. Attah urged increased financial support for the Corps, particularly in acquiring additional tactical equipment to sustain the ongoing efforts against vandals.

He stated, “Nigerians are already witnessing the positive outcomes of the diverse training opportunities provided for NSCDC personnel by the Commandant General. The activities of economic saboteurs must be brought to an end. We commend the CG and his team for going all out to protect critical national infrastructure.”
