Following his victory last Thursday, Okpebholo emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State, defeating Dennis Idahosa and 10 other aspirants.

The presentation of the certificate occurred amidst protests and threats of legal action from Idahosa, who alleged that the re-run poll was unfairly orchestrated by the National Working Committee in favor of Okpebholo.

The certificate was formally presented at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja by the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, accompanied by the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and several other members of the National Working Committee.

In a statement to the press following the ceremony, Ganduje expressed confidence in APC’s prospects for a decisive victory in the September gubernatorial election in Edo State.

He dismissed suggestions that the contest had been manipulated to favor Okpebholo, asserting that he possesses evidence, including records and video footage, to refute such claims.

Ganduje emphasized the importance of unity among all aspirants and party members, emphasizing that cooperation is essential to secure victory in the forthcoming election.

He stated, “The APC presents a strong candidate in Okpebholo, who is well-prepared and capable of appealing to the electorate. With unity and support from all quarters, we are poised to win Edo.”
