Tragedy struck in Mali on Tuesday as 31 individuals lost their lives, with 10 others sustaining injuries, when a bus en route to Burkina Faso veered off a bridge in the country’s southeast, as reported by the Transport Ministry.
The incident took place around 5:00 pm (1700 GMT) at a bridge spanning the Bagoe river.
According to a statement from the ministry, “A bus departing from Kenieba commune towards Burkina Faso plunged off a bridge. The primary cause appears to be the driver’s loss of control over the vehicle.”
Mali frequently witnesses automobile accidents, attributed to the poor condition of roads, highways, and vehicles across the nation.
Just earlier this month, another tragic incident occurred, resulting in the death of 15 individuals and injuring 46 others, when a bus collided with a truck while heading towards the capital, Bamako, in central Mali.
