A popular lawmaker in Adamawa state has been assassinated by armed gunmen.
In the early hours of Saturday, Hon. Ishaya Bakano, the Deputy Leader of Song Local Government Legislative Council was shot dead.
Ishaya, who represents Gudu Mboi Ward, lost his life after the gunmen broke into his residence at Bannga in the wee hours of Saturday.
A family source who spoke to our reporter said the gunmen also shot the son of the deceased, and that he is currently receiving treatment at Song hospital.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje has confirmed the incident to newsmen.
The spokesman said the incident happened in the early hours of today, and that the security are doing everything possible to arrest the suspects.
