Modupeola Durojaye, a woman, has raised an alarm after her car was forcefully taken by armed robbers on Monday night along the Benin-Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.

The incident involved a black 2018 Toyota Sienna with registration number AA447GS. According to reports, the armed men posed as police officers, stopping the car under the guise of an inspection. The car was taken from Durojaye’s husband, who was driving at the time.

Narrating the incident to PUNCH Metro, Durojaye explained that her husband, on his way home around 8:30 pm, was stopped by individuals assumed to be police officers with flashlights. After her husband parked, the attackers swiftly rushed in, physically assaulting him, and then made away with the car. The traumatic incident left her husband injured as he tried to defend himself during the struggle.

Durojaye added that the assailants, who were masked, not only took the car but also stole her husband’s gold wristwatch and ring. In addition, they made off with his purse, which contained his bank ATM card and driving license. The victim has since gone to court to obtain an affidavit regarding the incident.

The Ogun Police Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, was contacted for a statement, but she responded via text that she was driving. However, there has been no response to further inquiries as of the time of filing this report.
