Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou are set to clash in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on March 8, 2024, in a highly anticipated non-title heavyweight bout that promises to shake up the boxing world. The bout holds significant potential, particularly if the former UFC champion, Ngannou, emerges victorious.
Ngannou gained widespread recognition in the heavyweight boxing scene last September when he came close to defeating WBC reigning champion, Tyson Fury, in his debut boxing match. Despite dropping Fury to the canvas, the British boxing icon managed to secure a split decision victory.
Following Ngannou’s remarkable performance against Fury, he secured a bout with Joshua, who has consistently expressed his readiness to face any opponent.
“I just feel to myself I will always be here and ready to fight any time,” stated the 34-year-old Joshua in an interview with Sky Sports.
Reflecting on Ngannou’s bout with Fury, Joshua commented, “He had a good outing as well against Tyson Fury, who is the current WBC champion. So I think it will be good for me to see where I’m at.”
Joshua emphasized his willingness to take on challenging opponents, stating, “You know what it proved to me, I’ve signed to fight Fury, I’ve signed to fight Wilder, I’ve signed to fight a lot of people. I just do good business. I’m a good prizefighter, I don’t duck a challenge. I’m always up for it. I just feel to myself I’ll always be here and ready to fight any time.”
