Anambra Monarch Threatens Legal Action Against Journalists Over False Reports on House Burnings

The traditional ruler of Oba-Ofemili community in Awka-North Local Government Area of Anambra State, His Royal Majesty Igwe Ezekwesili Maduagwuna, has announced his intention to take legal action against journalists who published false claims that 27 houses were burnt in his community, along with other defamatory statements against his throne and character.

In an exclusive interview with our reporter in Awka, Igwe Ezekwesili emphasized that the journalists in question failed to contact him by phone or visit him in person to obtain his perspective before disseminating misinformation to the public. He asserted that they will be required to substantiate their claims in court regarding the alleged burning of 27 houses in Oba-Ofemili and the purported collaboration with Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim to deploy Fulani herdsmen for terrorizing the community.

The monarch, emphasizing his commitment to transparency and fairness, highlighted the satisfaction of his subjects and the prevailing peace and significant development in Oba-Ofemili community under his leadership.

He further stated that the journalists who neglected proper investigation and failed to reach out to him before publishing their reports would bear the consequences, as Oba-Ofemili community continues to thrive in a harmonious environment free from communal conflicts.
