In an interview, Chief Basil Chukwuemeka Ejidike, Chairman of the Anambra State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed confidence in the party’s unity and chances of winning the 2025 governorship election. Ejidike highlighted the defection of Senators Ifeanyi Ubah and Uche Ekwunife to APC as positive developments, considering them as valuable additions to the party.

He emphasized the party’s commitment to conducting a fair and transparent primary election to select a candidate capable of challenging the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, in the upcoming election. Ejidike urged for unity within the party, stating that a united front would contribute to the success of the APC in the state.

Regarding alleged factionalism within the party, he dismissed such claims, stating that APC in Anambra is stronger, more united, stable, and indivisible. Ejidike asserted that the party’s leadership is focused on strengthening its foundation, and he highlighted the frequency of stakeholders’ meetings as evidence of the party’s unity and cohesion.

Ejidike also praised the defection of Senators Ifeanyi Ubah and Uche Ekwunife into APC, considering it a positive development for the party. He mentioned that their decision to join APC indicates that the party is making strides and becoming more attractive to notable politicians in the state.

In response to questions about President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Ejidike commended Tinubu’s achievements, describing him as courageous, foresighted, and bold. He encouraged Nigerians to give the president time to implement his vision and address economic challenges. Ejidike acknowledged the existing hardships but expressed confidence that the president’s efforts would yield positive results in due time.

On the performance of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Ejidike acknowledged the governor’s efforts but expressed disappointment with the state’s security situation. He called on the governor to prioritize addressing security challenges, as peace and stability are crucial for development and attracting investments. Ejidike urged Soludo to focus on rebuilding burnt police stations, providing logistics and communication gadgets for security agencies, and boosting the morale of security personnel.

Regarding recent actions by the governor, such as the clampdown on street traders and the suspension of a traditional ruler over chieftaincy title bestowment, Ejidike advised Soludo to concentrate on governance and avoid unnecessary controversies. He emphasized the importance of leaders rising above certain issues and called for a more sensitive approach to the needs of the people.

In conclusion, Ejidike expressed optimism about the future of APC in Anambra, emphasizing the party’s commitment to unity, transparent processes, and effective governance. He urged all party members to work collectively towards achieving success in the 2025 governorship election.
