(Gov. Udom) Amid reports that he and his allies in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) G5 forum met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, this week in London, and struck a deal to support the former Lagos governor against PDP’s Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 election, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, on Saturday held a meeting with his counterpart from Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel.
Bellnewsonline.com reports that the widely-reported pact between the G5 Governors and Tinubu is expected to be made official in January.
Concerned by the development, Udom, who is chairman of the PDP presidential campaign council paid Governor Wike a visit at his private residence in Rumueprikom, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State today (Saturday).
Another ‘G5’ governor, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, was also present at the meeting.
Speaking after the meeting, Wike described it as convivial.
“Politics is not what will divide brothers and divide friends.
“Everybody knows my relationship with Udom, and we will continue to maintain that relationship.
“We may have different political affiliation [sic] or thinking, that should not divide the brotherly love or create a gap among us.” Wike said.
