A Facebook user reported that his pastor at Lightning Grace Assembly has arrested one of his members this morning for using church tithes to give loans to people outside of the church.
The member has been in charge of keeping tithe records for over three years, according to the Facebook user, and has been faithful in doing so.
It was noted that the pastor was unaware that one of his members had been using church tithes to give loans to people outside the church until those he loaned the money to refused to pay back.
The pastor, whose name was not given, was chastised by church members for arresting him rather than using another method to get him to pay back.
Here is the Facebook user’s words: “I just received an information that my pastor at Lightning Grace Assembly has arrested one of his devoted members who was in charge of keeping tithes records and the money this morning.
“He was arrested by the pastor because he was giving non-interest free loans to people outside with the tithes of the church.
“He’s been doing this for over three years, according to what I could gathered, since he was put in charge of keeping tithe records in the church.
“When the pastor needs money to run the church, he is always able to give it to him, until recently, when the people he loaned money to refused to pay back.
“He is currently in police custody, and church members have criticised the pastor for arresting him.
We all know that stealing from God’s offering or tithe is wrong, but he should have handled it in a more private manner.
