It has been gathered from a reliable source that Atiku Abubakar, worried by the danger posed to his presidential ambition next year has to offer Governor Nyesom Wike a new deal.
It was gathered that the duo met on Thursday in Abuja in a fresh bid to resolve their differences. Atiku Abubakar promised to support Wike’s presidential ambition in 2027 if Wike agree to sheath his sword and support him in 2023.
It should be recalled that the duo and their allies have been locked in a face-off since after the party’s primaries and after Atiku Abubakar overlooked Wike and picked Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate. More so, to make matters worse, Atiku decided to ignore Wike and proceeded with his campaign this made Wike and his allies (5 PDP governors) withdrew their support for him.
However, on Thursday, after a fresh meeting between the duo, Atiku pleaded with Wike to join his camp and the campaign train of the party. Atiku Abubakar offered to back Wike for the presidency in 2027. It was gathered that Wike was non-committal to Atiku because he has broken lots of promises he made in the past. Wike said he would consult his group and get back to Atiku.
According to Bellnewsonline.coma, Wike was not excited about the 2027 prospect because of a similar promise made by Atiku to the Igbos during a stakeholders meeting he had with them in Enugu. The question here is how does Atiku Abubakar intend to keep his promise to support Wike’s presidential ambition in 2027 when he had promised to hand over power to the people of the Southeast?
