A German national was on Saturday morning stabbed and robbed in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, in what security experts have described as another troubling sign of growing lawlessness in the city.

According to a security report obtained by Bellnews, the incident occurred at about 8am on Saturday along IBB Way, close to the Maitama Primary School.

The German national, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was reportedly walking along the road when he was attacked by hoodlums who operated on motorcycles.

Bellnews learnt that the attackers stabbed him and dispossessed him of his belongings before escaping.

The report flagged rising security concerns in Abuja, especially the increasing use of motorcycles for swift robbery operations, noting that both foreigners and locals are now potential targets.

The advisory issued alongside the incident report warned residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to exercise extreme caution.

It urged people to avoid walking alone in poorly secured areas, refrain from displaying valuables, and consider using secure transportation services.

The report reads: “On September 13, 2025, at approximately 0800hrs, a German national was stabbed and robbed along IBB Way in Abuja, near Maitama Primary School. The victim was walking when attacked by hoodlums on motorcycles.

“Robbery and assault, Use of motorcycles for quick escapes and Potential targeting of foreigners and locals.

“Exercise extreme caution when walking in Abuja, especially in areas with low security presence. Avoid displaying valuables or walking alone in isolated areas. Be aware of surroundings and potential threats. Consider using secure transportation services. Report incidents to local authorities immediately. Cooperate with law enforcement agencies to enhance security measures.

“Stay informed about local security situations and follow advisories from authorities and security focal persons.”
