Bandits unleashed terror on two farming communities in Zamfara State, resulting in the tragic death of at least 30 farmers, including a revered Islamic cleric.

The Police Spokesman in Zamfara, ASP Yazid Abu Abubakar, acknowledged the attacks in two local government areas but deferred detailed information to a later time.

Sources revealed that the incidents occurred on Thursday in Maradun and Tsafe local government areas, as reported by online platform PR Nigeria.

In Maradun, the esteemed Islamic scholar Mallam Makwashi Maradun Mai Jan Baki and another individual fell victim to the violence, with two of the cleric’s children still missing.

Additionally, three individuals lost their lives in Gidangoga village, where villagers retaliated, resulting in the killing of 24 bandits and the recovery of eight motorbikes.

A resident of Maradun lamented the frequency of attacks, stating, “Attacks are becoming consistent in Maradun area these days. They happen almost every day. Many communities in the local government have been vacated for fear of reprisal.”

BELLNEWS  further reported that Bilbis village in Tsafe LGA was also targeted, resulting in the loss of 20 civilian lives as the bandits ruthlessly attacked farmers while they worked in their fields.

In another harrowing incident, Alhaji Murtala Ruwan Bado, the district head of Garbadu in Talata Mafara Emirate, narrowly escaped a bandit attack along Mayananchi road in the evening.
