Arise TV presenter Reuben Abati on Thursday intervened after a studio guest, Dotun Hassan clashed with another guest, Dele Farotimi over his statement about the justices of the Supreme court.

Bellnews reports that Abati demanded calmness from Hassan for interrupting Faratomi abruptly for expressing distrust in the judges of the Supreme Court following the controversy trailing the academic records of President Bola Tinubu when he filed his paperwork to lead Nigeria in June 2022.

Recall, Caleb Westberg, the university registrar and deponent/witness of Chicago State University, said he does not have the certificate Tinubu presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prior to the 2023 general election.

Westberg further stressed that Tinubu did not apply for a replacement certificate, nor was he ever issued one.

A deposition is the process of taking a sworn, out-of-court oral testimony of a witness. This testimony may be reduced to a written transcript for use in court or for discovery purposes.

Speaking about the issue during the morning show, Abati asked Farotimi if the Supreme Court can take fresh evidences since there are compelling exceptions, circumstances that would dictate that forgery can be established.

Farotimi, in response, said; “When legistrators are corrupt, one should be worried. If your executives are corrupt, you should be afraid. But when the judiciary stops being the court of law, the people should be alarmed.”

He continued saying, “Nigerian courts over the past few years have shown very clearly that we have good reasons to be worried over its capacity to deliver justices or to give equity, however, i do know within the juridisticion of the apex court it has the powers, if it so desires and if it finds the will to hear evidences that suggest that the person who sits in the highest office in the land is a career criminal. That is entirely up to the Supreme court to decide if it is capable of saving what we have described as a Democracy.”

Immediately, Abati interjected Farotimi whilst he was making his statement, saying he was intimidating the supreme court with his utterances.

This is after Hassan (the other guest) flared up, interrupting Farotimi following his remarks on the apex court.

Farotimi, however, insisted that he will not be silenced as he must air his opinions and should be allowed to do so.

Abati, who seem to have moderated the rowdy session to a calm, allowed Dele to finish his view.
