Tribe: With 54 countries, more than 1.3 billion people, and 3,000 distinct tribes, Africa is the largest continent on Earth.
Each African tribe has its own customs and beliefs. One group of people is extremely hazardous, whereas another is hospitable to strangers. The Mursi are a violent and dreaded group in Africa.
Located in southwest Ethiopia, north of the Kenyan border, in the Omo River valley, the Mursi tribe is one of Ethiopia’s oldest and largest.
The Aari, Banna, Mekan, Karo, Kwegu, Nyangatom, and Suri are all within a few miles of each other. The Mursi people live in some of Ethiopia’s most remote areas.
The wooden lip plate worn by the Mursi ladies is a well-known sign of their beauty.
The Mursi tribe has been dubbed the most deadly in Africa since it is rumored that members of the tribe will kill anyone who visits them without permission. “It’s better to die than live without killing,” says the Mursi men’s credo.
These people believe in the power of death, and they teach their children how to survive in the face of adversity and death.
