The Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has granted the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Gbadegbo Rhodes-Vivour’s ex parte application to serve Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu petition documents via his substitute.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Rhodes-Vivour and his political party, through their counsel, Olagbade Benson, had informed the election petition tribunal that Sanwo-Olu evaded service of the petition on him by the court’s bailiff.

The plaintiffs alleged that Sanwo-Olu refused to collect the document from the bailiff when the court official got to his office to serve him.

Rhodes-Vivour and the Labour Party in the petition marked EPT/LAG/GOV/04/2023, had prayed the court to grant them leave to serve the petition and other processes on the governor and his deputy through substituted means, by posting same via DHL courier services or any other recognised courier service company, to Sanwo-Olu’s official residence at Lagos House, Marina, Lagos.

Rhodes-Vigour and the Labour Party on April 11 in a petition challenging the outcome of the March 18 governorship election, asked the tribunal to nullify Sanwo-Olu’s re-election and declare him the winner.
