Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party on Monday said that the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, is someone he respects.
Bellnewsonline.com reports that Obi is challenging Tinubu’s emergence in court. But speaking in an interview on Arise Television, the former Anambra State governor said he holds no grudge against Tinubu. According to him, he is only challenging the conduct of the February 25 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“The APC presidential candidate is an elder brother. I can even call him a father. And I have respect for him and I will continue to respect him.
“I am only challenging the process through which INEC declared him as the President-elect. I have no issues with his declaration as the President-elect,” Obi said.
He added: “If you look at the last election, it is probably the worst election, considering in this particular republic, the 2022 electoral law which was meant to improve our overall election process, and continued and consistent promises by the chairman of INEC that this is going to the best thing that will happen to Nigeria.”
