Motunrayo Kuti, daughter of late Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has reacted to the online clash between her brother, Seun Kuti, and singer Wizkid.
Bellnews reports that the disagreement started after a heated exchange on social media over the nickname Big Bird.
Seun Kuti uses Big Bird Kuti on Instagram, while Wizkid has long been known by the same name.
During the argument, Wizkid replied to Seun by saying he was bigger than Seun’s father, a statement that quickly caused anger among many fans.
Motunrayo later released a video where she defended her father’s name and family history.
She accused Wizkid of disrespecting Fela’s legacy and went further to attack the singer by bringing up his parents.
She said Fela’s name and impact were greater than that of Wizkid’s parents and insisted that no artiste today could compare with what her father achieved.
She said: “Wizkid is bigger than Fella Abi. Wizkid, you are also bigger than your father. That your us+less father. That one wey abandon you and your mama wey don die so. That man, Muniru. Muniru Olátúnjí Balogun. You see that Muniru Olátúnjí, You are also bigger than your us+less father. As you are bigger than our own father.
“Our father Fela is now bigger than your father, Muniru Olátúnjí Balogun and your mother, that woman wey die throway like cockroach. Yes Fela big pass those two.”
