Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has said any elective political officer who claims he will only do one term in office needs psychiatric evaluation.
Speaking in Awka during a campaign rally of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Soludo said such a person should be locked up in a mental home.
Soludo said: “There is zoning in Anambra and after Soludo as governor for eight years, the next governor would go to Anambra Central.
“Anybody who is contesting for governorship from Anambra South is trying to disrupt the zoning system in Anambra.
“Some of them want to lie to us, how can anyone with brain – you think you are talking to fools – you come to people and say ‘I will do only one term’.
“Any politician who said that must be sent to a psychiatric home because the person must have some mental problem.
“When the constitution allows you to stay up to eight years, you come and tell us where it has ever happened.
“Anybody who says he needs only one term needs psychiatric evaluation because you are taking everybody to be a fool.”
“Anambra has no place for street urchins; even those of them whose don’t have secondary certificates are questionable. Some of them have no certificate but want to be governor.”
This comes amid former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, recently saying he was ready to be president for only one term and hand over power to the North if allowed.
