The Association of Ebonyi Indigenes Socio-cultural in Diaspora, a foremost socio-cultural organisation of the state living outside the country, has slammed the governor of the state, David Nweze Umahi, over his directive to Ebonyi State people on Monday not to vote for Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, but to vote for only APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, Bellnews Online reports.
According to Bellnews, the association noted that Governor David Nweze Umahi’s betrayal to the Ebonyi State and the whole South-East was the most unprecedented betrayal in the history of politics in Nigeria.
Bellnews recalls that Governor Umahi had on Monday, said “Ebonyi people will vote for APC and not Labour Party. We will librate the state for Bola Tinubu”.
Since he made the statement, he has been under serious attacks by Peter Obi’s supporters in Ebonyi State, South-East and across the country, even outside the country.
The association, AESID made this known in an official statement signed on Tuesday by its President, Amb. Pascal Oluchukwu, describing Umahi’s statement as “disappointing, disgusting and unfortunate”, said that Umahi still remains the worst betrayal in South-East.
According to Bellnews, association in the statement on Tuesday, told Umahi that he doesn’t have any right to tasked Ebonyi people to vote for Bola Tinubu and reject their own South-East brother (Peter Obi), said “You don’t have any right to impose Tinubu on us”.
The association also slammed Umahi for disowning President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo over his (Umahi) failure to clinch APC’s presidential ticket, Bellnews reports.
