King Charles III received an outpouring of support and prayers for a speedy recovery on Monday after Buckingham Palace announced his cancer diagnosis. The 75-year-old monarch, who recently underwent prostate surgery, has begun treatment for the illness.

In a statement shared by The Royal Family, Buckingham Palace revealed that the king has commenced a schedule of regular treatments and has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. However, he will continue to fulfill state business and official paperwork during this period.

Leaders from around the world expressed their concern and sent their best wishes to the king and his family. US President Joe Biden also conveyed his concern, stating that he had just learned of the diagnosis and wished the British monarch well.

Former president Donald Trump, as well as UK leaders Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, also extended their well-wishes to King Charles and his family. Trump described the king as a “wonderful man” and expressed hopes for his fast and full recovery, while Johnson and Truss emphasized the nation’s support for the monarch during this challenging time.

Additionally, Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf and Northern Ireland’s Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly offered their thoughts and prayers for the king’s recovery. Health officials, including NHS England’s chief executive Amanda Pritchard, encouraged people to seek medical attention if symptoms of cancer arise, expressing hope for successful treatment for King Charles.

The palace noted that King Charles chose to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and to promote public understanding of cancer. Despite his health challenges, the king remains positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.
