A well-known community leader and major political stakeholder in Anambra State, as well as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nnewi North, Hon. Prince Innocent Orizu, has given reasons why the APC continues to attract more political heavyweights.
Speaking in an exclusive interview recently, Prince Orizu who is a one time Chairman of Uruagu Nnewi Development Union and a Councillor of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Nnewi North, stated that since the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah joined the Party, things turned around.
Reminded that the demise of the Senator must have adversely affected the fortune of the Party, he disagreed. In his words:
“Immediately Senator Ifeanyi Ubah entered APC, everything turned around. Most of the known people in politics followed him because he had a mission. Even now that he’s no more, more political heavyweights are still trooping in.
Talk of people like Prof. Obiorah Okonkwo, people like Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, people like Dr. Val Ozigbo and a host of others too numerous to mention.
They are all coming in. Remember that all the former political appointees of former Governor Obiano have all joined the APC.
You can see that it’s a moving train that cannot be stopped.”
On how prepared are they for the forthcoming Governorship election, he replied:
“APC is very much prepared. All the Ward Chairmen are working hard towards delivering APC and I can assure you that the State Chairman is working tirelessly to make sure we deliver APC at the State level this time around.”
On the insinuation that APC is divided, he debunked such news saying:”
There’s no faction in APC Anambra State. We have only one APC under Ejidike. The people that wanted to create faction have left with Muoghalu to join Labour Party.”
Commenting on the Ifeanyi Ubah Political Structure which some Senatorial Aspirants are laying claims to, he clarified,
“I thank God that all the Leaders of the various groups had a meeting. And they made a Statement that they have not endorsed anybody. That it is after the Primaries that they will look for the most capable person who has the vision of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to endorse.
So I’m telling everyone to exercise patience and wait.
‘Asked to assess the administration of Governor Soludo, especially in the light of Agunechemba and Udo ka chi Security Outfit, he answered:”
We applaud him, when somebody does well, we must applaud him.On the other hand, the Security Initiative of Governor Soludo is actually the Brain Child of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. Ifeanyi Ubah already setup CCTV in all the major towns and streets in Anambra South.
He empowered all the Vigilante Groups with gadgets and tools for their works. When Ifeanyi Ubah was alive, they were the ones frustrating his efforts.
However, the Governor has tried in his own capabilities, but I feel that there’s someone that can surpass him. He has done his best but his best is not good enough.
In governance, security of lives and properties is of utmost importance. Building roads and bridges without paying adequate attention to security, is of no use.
Anambra State is the worst state in terms of security in the entire South East. So this Security Initiative is long overdue.”” Finally his message to members of APC, he offered:
“We have been in this for a long time. Let us come together this time around and speak with one voice.
APC will definitely get it right this time. APC has been battling for years to get into Government House Awka, but this time around by the special grace of God, we will surely get to Agu Awka. Thank you.”
