Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, presidential flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday said it will be “dangerous” for Nigeria to hand over power to “a greenhorn” or “the national leader of the same party that brought us to this very sorry situation”.
Bellnewsonline.com reports that speaking at The Summit House in Lagos during an engagement with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), the former Vice-President reproached the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate who was its immediate past National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Although he didn’t mention names, the PDP candidate in a veiled reference described Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 election, as “a greenhorn”.
Obi was Atiku’s running mate in Nigeria’s 2019 election which they were unsuccessful in their bid to displace the ruling party.
“It will be dangerous for Nigeria to relinquish their future to a greenhorn or the national leader of the same party that brought us to this very sorry situation,” Atiku said.
He added: “The failure of the APC-led government is staring every Nigerian in the face.”
The PDP candidate also said he has the needed experience to change Nigeria’s fortunes for good.
