The Media Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has questioned President Bola Tinubu and his administration’s silence over an allegation that ₦100 billion is being withdrawn monthly from the Federation Account without legislative approval.

Bellnews recalls that former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, recently stated that Tinubu deserves to be impeached.

El-Rufai, during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ programme, accused Tinubu of withdrawing ₦100 billion from the federation account each month without approval from the National Assembly and the State Houses of Assembly.

According to El-Rufai, such an action deserves nothing but impeachment, noting that the unauthorised deductions have been going on for over 15 months, amounting to a total of ₦1.5 trillion.

Although the presidency has been silent about the allegation, Ibe, in a post on his 𝕏 on Friday, described the alleged action as unconstitutional, questioning when Tinubu will respond.

He wrote, “When is President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT and his administration going to respond to the allegation by @elrufai, former Kaduna State Governor and chieftain of the @ADCNig that Tinubu caused the withdrawal of N100 billion monthly from the Federation Account without appropriation of the NASS and State Assemblies? By the way, the action is unconstitutional and amounts to an impeachable offence. Or we may have to wait until his return from Turkey, which date we cannot even hazard a guess?”
