Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has called on the former Governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, and his many online supporters to leave social media and begin grassroots mobilization for the 2023 presidential election if they want to come out victorious.
Adeyanju made the call in a tweet on Wednesday night.
According to him, Peter Obi and his supporters should leave social media and focus on grassroots mobilization. He advised them to immediately go from ward to ward and from polling unit to polling unit across the country to start building real structures.
He said to defeat the All Progressive Congress, APC, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, is not by wishful thinking on the internet.
“Peter Obi & his supporters must leave social media and begin the real work at the grassroots.
Go and start building real structures in all the wards and Polling Units in the country.
To defeat PDP & APC in Abia or Zamfara state is not internet wishful thinking. Start real work,” Adeyanju tweeted
As the 2023 presidential election draws near, many Nigerians are beginning to accept the fact that elections are not won on social media.
In many previous elections in Nigeria, many of those who won online polls did not win in the real election.
There is no doubt that Peter Obi is one of the most popular candidates in the upcoming presidential election.
He is regarded as a very intelligent man that knows the problems affecting us as a country and already has the solutions.
However, many people have also raised concerns that he may not have the political structures like Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar that is needed to win a presidential election. That may be the reason Adeyanju is saying Peter Obi and his supporters should not just rely on social media, they should mobilize and go to all nukes and crannies to convince Nigerians to vote for him
