We Have Started Paying The Backlogs of Lecturers Salary, Mins. Of Education – Adamu Adamu

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has explained the efforts of the federal government in ensuring so far that the protracted Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike is brought to an end. Adamu who was speaking on Channels TV programme early this evening, revealed that the government is currently carrying out salary reviews of lecturers that would reflect the current inflationary trends.

On the issue of backlogs of salaries that the government is owing lecturers, the Education Minister said that they have started paying.

When which platform the government is using to pay the lecturers, Adamu Adamu said IPPIS as they are still waiting for the final approval of UTAS which ASUU have been advocating for.

Adamu Adamu however went on to state that ASUU have not yet accepted the recent salary increments as they are still consulting.

The Minister who revealed that he speaks with ASUU almost every day, said he is hopeful that the lecturers would call off their strike within the shortest possible time.
