There was confusion on Tuesday after armed military personnel reportedly prevented the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and officials of the FCTA from accessing a parcel of land.
In a video shared by Channels Television, the soldiers were seen standing guard at the site, blocking the minister and his team. One of the officers was seen making a phone call, while Wike appeared visibly displeased and scolded his aides as he attempted to proceed.
During the confrontation, one of Wike’s aides was heard telling the soldiers: “This is unprofessional, you cannot be facing a minister with this thing.”
The situation escalated into a physical altercation between members of Wike’s delegation and some of the military personnel.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the minister nor his team has released an official statement regarding the incident.
