Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen, is reportedly willing to accept a weekly wage of just under £200,000 to join Manchester United, significantly lower than previous reports suggesting he was demanding £300,000 per week.
According to renowned transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Victor Osimhen’s wage expectations have been overstated.
Speaking to Givemesport, Romano clarified that the Napoli striker is not asking for a dramatic salary increase, but merely wants his current earnings of around €12 million net per season to be maintained.
“He just wants his current salary to be respected, nothing different. Same as one year ago,” Romano stated, refuting suggestions that Osimhen is pricing himself out of a move to Old Trafford.
This revelation could ease concerns at Manchester United, where the club’s new part-owners INEOS are aiming to reduce the wage bill and instill more financial discipline.
With players like Mason Mount already earning £250,000 per week, Osimhen’s revised salary expectations may now align with United’s structure.
Osimhen’s future is the subject of intense speculation as he prepares to leave Napoli, following a standout season on loan at Galatasaray. The 26-year-old bagged 37 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances, helping the Turkish giants to a league and cup double.
Despite interest from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, who reportedly offered Osimhen £30 million per year, the striker turned down the proposal in favour of continuing his career in Europe.
United are known to be actively searching for a reliable No. 9 to complement or replace the inconsistent Rasmus Højlund. Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee is another target, but the Dutchman is seen more as a supporting striker than a leading frontman.
Meanwhile, Napoli are reportedly exploring a swap deal with Liverpool involving Darwin Núñez, while Juventus are also keen, although the €75 million release clause in Osimhen’s contract applies only to foreign clubs, meaning Italian suitors would need to negotiate a separate agreement.
Galatasaray have also expressed interest in retaining Osimhen permanently after his sensational loan spell.
