On Saturday, the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army conducted a successful operation in the Yorro Local Government Area of Taraba State, rescuing four kidnapped victims and destroying a hideout used by bandits. The Brigade Spokesman, Oni Olubodunde, released a statement detailing the encounter.

According to Olubodunde, the troops engaged the bandits on the Gampu hills of Yorro LGA, leading to a confrontation in which the bandits were forced to flee, leaving their victims behind. The kidnapped individuals who were rescued include Genesis M Samuel (24 years old), Bernard Denis (28 years old), Esther Titus (35 years old), and Isma’il Umar (25 years old), the son of the Emir of Pupulle, who was abducted from his residence on January 18, 2024.

The ongoing operation aims to locate and reunite other kidnapped victims who fled the area during the exchange of gunfire. The public is urged to support the military by providing credible and timely information on suspicious activities to enhance overall security in the state.

Yorro LGA, where the operation took place, has recently experienced banditry and kidnapping incidents, and the successful rescue represents a significant step towards restoring peace and security in the region.
