The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Print Media, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has rejected claims that President Bola Tinubu‘s administration is favouring the South with projects and ignoring the North.

Bellnews reports that Abdulaziz made this known on Tuesday during a media chat with journalists at the NUJ Press Centre in Kano.

Abdulaziz stated that numerous massive projects in the North are still ongoing, including the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway, and the Kano-Katsina-Maradi rail line.

According to him, President Bola Tinubu would have abandoned the projects if he didn’t care about the North.

He added that the government is also initiating new projects, such as the Sokoto-Badagry highway, emphasising that development under Tinubu encompasses all parts of the country.

He said, “If the president didn’t care about the North, he would have abandoned these projects. Instead, he has continued funding them.”

Abdulaziz also dismissed the new political coalition formed by opposition figures, saying it is made up of expired politicians with no real influence.

He described the coalition leaders as “bitter individuals” who are more concerned about being excluded from power than about the welfare of Nigerians.

According to the top aide, Tinubu is not bothered about the coalition or any political alliance ahead of the 2027 elections, but is focused on nation-building.

He added, “The president is not disturbed at all. Those leading the coalitio

n are people who have no political weight. Many of them have contested several times and failed. Their popularity is fading.

“They only care that they are not at the table of power. Nigerians understand this, and that’s why their coalition is not gaining support.”
