The Rivers State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that political leaders in the state do not require the backing of a governor to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Bellnews understands that Wike made the assertion on Saturday during the inauguration of the organisation’s Port Harcourt office.

Speaking at the event, the FCT minister emphasised that Rivers leaders possess the political structure and influence to independently rally support for the President.

Wike said: “We are working for President Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to mobilize us. We have what it takes to operate independently. We have senators, Assembly members, local government chairmen, National Assembly members, and party chairmen of both APC and PDP.”

He added that genuine political backing stems from personal conviction rather than external direction.

“We have mobilized ourselves to demonstrate our commitment because true support doesn’t need to be brought by someone – you have to make the commitment yourself,” he stated.

Wike further described the development as a reflection of unity among political stakeholders in Rivers State, noting that local leaders had proactively pledged their allegiance to the President.

Wike and the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, have been at loggerheads over the control of the political structure of the South-south state.
