Senior Assistant to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, has lashed out at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for accusing his principal of betrayal.

Bellnews reports that Wike, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Friday, accused Atiku of betraying Moshood Kashimawo Abiola.

However, Shaibu in a post via 𝕏, described Wike’s statement as not just a lie but a disgraceful revision of history, stating that betrayal can never be synonymous with Atiku.

Shaibu recalled how Wike wept, lobbied, and practically grovelled to be Atiku’s running mate in 2022, but was rejected because of betrayal and his temperament.

Atiku’s aide questioned Wike’s audacity to speak about betrayal when he undermined and stabbed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the back, danced with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in broad daylight, and led a campaign of sabotage while occupying the position of a PDP governor.

According to Shaibu, Wike insulted the same party that gave him everything, ridiculed its leaders, and broke ranks with its candidate.

He wrote, “What does this shameless dipsomaniac and serial attention-seeker @GovWike really know about 1993? Did he just utter the unthinkable, that @Atiku Abubakar betrayed MKO Abiola? That is not just a lie, it is a disgraceful revision of history by someone clearly intoxicated by the sound of his own voice.

“Betrayal can never be synonymous with Atiku Abubakar. Never. Not then, not now, not ever. And deep down, Wike knows this. Let’s rewind a little: You wept, lobbied, and practically grovelled to be Atiku’s running mate in 2022. You were not passed over because of betrayal; you were rejected because of your temperament. If that bruised your ego, then say so. But don’t rewrite history to nurse your pride.

“You dare to speak of betrayal, yet in 2023, you were the one who stabbed your party in the back. You undermined the PDP from within, danced with the APC in broad daylight, and led a campaign of sabotage, all while occupying the position of a PDP governor.

“So again, who betrayed whom? You insulted the same party that gave you everything. You ridiculed its leaders, broke ranks with its candidate, and now you want to rewrite history to cleanse your conscience. That is not politics, it’s narcissism.

“Atiku Abubakar remains a constant. A stabilizer. A statesman. He has carried this party through storms, defended democracy when it was costly to do so, and never once allowed ego to override principle.

“So let’s be clear: If loyalty, maturity, and consistency were qualities tested in 2023, you failed that test miserably.

“Atiku is no betrayer. The real betrayal is trying to wear the clothes of a patriot after dancing naked in the marketplace of treachery.”
