An armed group leader in the winding creek of the mangrove forest of the Delta state expressed its ultimate dissatisfaction over it’s exclusion from the award of the pipeline surveillance contract to Government Ekpemupolo popularly called Tomopolo.
The Creek men leader who lamented bitterly over the exclusion alleged that they weren’t consulted by the government before handing over the contract to another person.
He said, ”They want us to protect oil assets but they gave the contract to someone else to do the job in my community. Colonial masters and multinationals may have enslaved me, but I will not allow my Ijaw kingsman to enslave me.
They ought to speak to me before the recipients of the contract award. But if they reject equity, then any that comes to equity with dirty hands should be prepared for the consequences.”
We all know the power that the Nigeria delta militants can pull with their ammunitions, I think the government should engage them in dialogue alongside Tompolo to avoid any sort of catastrophe.
