Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has clarified a misconception about him while responding to a fan’s social media post on overcoming negative narratives.
Bellnews reports that a fan, in a post via 𝕏, reflected on Mr P’s journey, noting how people once doubted his singing abilities and thought he was only a dancer.
According to him, Mr P proved many people wrong and became a successful singer.
The fan wrote, “Person wey them talk say him no sabi sing say na dance him dey dance na him come Sabi sing pass .. false narrative.”
Reacting to the post, Mr P encouraged his fans on the importance of recognising one’s value and not settling for less.
The singer said individuals should respect themselves enough to walk away from environments where their efforts are not valued or appreciated.
He wrote, “But sadly, most people fall for it. In this life, always know your worth. Don’t settle for less, and never stay where you’re not valued or respected. Respect yourself enough to leave any place where your efforts are not appreciated. #TheyLied’”.
In other news, ace Nigerian rapper, MI Abaga, has opened up about the struggles of being unmarried at the age of 37, while his friends and peers have settled down.
Bellnews reports that MI Abaga, during an interview on the Jay On Air Podcast, said he had earlier regretted not getting married like his friends, who did so in their mid-to-late twenties and are now raising teenagers.
According to the ‘Bad Bello’ crooner, his outlook changed dramatically when he met his wife just before turning 40, shortly after ending a previous relationship.
MI Abaga further stated that the journey to marriage taught him that everyone has their unique timeline, and that being ready is crucial for a successful relationship.
