The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has appealed to striking labour unions to desist from politicizing the labour movement.
Keyamo made this known in a statement through the official X handle of the Ministry on Thursday.
Bellnews reports that members of labour unions on Thursday blocked both the entry and exit ways of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, resulting in traffic gridlock.
The development follows the unions’ decision to shut down flight operations to Imo State over an attack on the NLC president, Joe Ajaero.
But the Minister reacted by calling the unions to order for the good of the Nigerian aviation sector.
He warned that the Nigerian aviation industry should not be the target of striking workers because of its economic importance to the country’s development.
“Keyamo appeals to the Labour unions to desist from politics in the name of the Labour movement. While he condemns the manhandling of the Labour president in an incident in Imo state, he is of the opinion that the aviation sector should not be the target because of its economic importance to the development of our great nation”.
