Mallam Isa Gusau, the spokesperson for the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has succumbed to illness on Thursday. Gusau, a former journalist with Daily Trust, previously served as the spokesperson for Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima during his tenure as the governor of Borno State. He had been undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in India for over a month.
Gusau breathed his last in a specialized hospital in New Delhi, India, following an extended period of illness, as reported by an anonymous source. The source stated, “We have lost Isa to the cold hands of death; he was unconscious for about three days. We were all praying for his recovery, but it was quite unfortunate that we lost him this evening in the hospital in New Delhi, India.”
Despite his health challenges, Gusau remained actively engaged in publicizing the activities of Governor Zulum, issuing statements from his hospital bed in India to support his principal.
Mallam Isa Gusau possessed an impressive academic background, holding a Bachelor’s Degree with First-Class honors in Media, Public Relations, and Advertising from Middlesex University in London. He also earned a Master’s Degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Labour and Public Relations from the University of Maiduguri. Additionally, he held an OND and HND in Mass Communication from Kaduna Polytechnic, achieving a notable 4.35 out of 5.0 in his final semester examinations.
