The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has officially opened a network of 21 newly constructed roads spanning 14.62 kilometers in Adazi Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area. These roads were generously funded and built by Chief Chinedu Benson Madubuko, a proud son of Adazi Ani.
The commissioning ceremony served as a testament to Governor Soludo’s commitment to fostering partnerships between the public and private sectors to expedite infrastructural development in Anambra State. It underscored his administration’s unwavering dedication to transparency, accountability, and social welfare initiatives.
During the inauguration, Governor Soludo stressed the imperative of greater private sector participation in Anambra’s progress. He noted, “Public resources are finite, with less than one percent under governmental control. If we aim for rapid advancement, citizens must contribute their resources.”
Drawing inspiration from the successful “Neni model,” where the late Tonimas spearheaded the construction of 18 kilometers of roads in his community through a public-private-community partnership, Governor Soludo commended Chief Madubuko for replicating this model in Adazi Ani. He hailed Chief Madubuko as a beacon of hope and urged others to follow suit.
Governor Soludo reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability. He pledged to deliver a comprehensive scorecard within two years, detailing all achievements without resorting to borrowing. Additionally, he announced the completion of Anambra’s railway master plan, which includes the development of three new cities: Awka 2.0, Onitsha 2.0, and an industrial city, highlighting APGA’s pivotal role in Anambra’s advancement and its commitment to sustaining progress beyond his tenure.
Highlighting various initiatives aimed at uplifting the underprivileged, Governor Soludo cited infrastructure development in Nzam, a landmark visit to the long-neglected Olumbanasa, and the ongoing transformation of Okpoko, once dubbed West Africa’s largest urban slum.
In his welcome address, Chief Chinedu Benson Madubuko warmly received Governor Soludo to Adazi Ani and expressed gratitude for the governor’s steadfast promotion of the Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) concept. He expressed hope that the roads he had constructed would leave a lasting legacy and inspire other Adazi Ani natives to join the PPCP initiative championed by Governor Soludo.
The event was attended by dignitaries including the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Barr.
