The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has restated his position that Senator Ireti Kingibe will not return to the Senate after the next election.

Speaking during a media chat aired on TVC News on Monday, Wike said his earlier prediction about Kingibe’s political future remains unchanged.

He declared, “I said it more than a year ago: Senator Ireti Kingibe won’t come back as senator of the FCT, and I still stand by it.”

The minister made the statement while reacting to political developments in the Federal Capital Territory and ongoing alignments ahead of future elections.

Wike maintained that the political structure in the FCT has shifted significantly and that emerging forces will determine the next outcome.

He argued that performance, loyalty, and grassroots connection will be key factors in deciding who represents the territory in the Senate.

Although he did not provide specific reasons for his claim, the minister expressed confidence that current realities on the ground do not favour Kingibe’s return.

Neither Senator Kingibe nor her aides had issued an official response as of the time of filing this report.
