“Buhari’s endorsement came after Northern governors elected on the APC platform requested that the president appoint a southerner as his successor.
This was said in a statement made by the governors following a meeting on Saturday.
They urged northern candidates running for the APC presidential nomination to drop out in the national interest.
According to the statement, Jigawa State Governor Abubakar Badaru has decided to withdraw from the race “to contribute to this patriotic quest.”
