In the court-ordered rerun election for the Bodinga North state constituency in Sokoto State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Professor Farouk Tambuwal, the returning officer for the rerun election, declared Magaji Abubakar of the PDP as the winner with a total of 6,488 votes. Abubakar surpassed his closest rival, Yusuf Marafa Danchadi of the All Progressive Congress (APC), who secured 5,893 votes. The victory was announced by Tambuwal in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Addressing the outcome, Tambuwal stated, “Having satisfied the requirements of the law, Magaji Abubakar of the PDP is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
This development follows the earlier declaration by the court of appeals, which deemed the election in Bodinga Constituency inconclusive and mandated a rerun in five polling units within the constituency.
