RE: DUNUKOFIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN: THE TURN OF IFITEDUNU AND THE UNLAWFUL INVOLVEMENT OF TRADITIONAL RULERS IN POLITICAL AFFAIRS.

I do not intend to engage in any further discussion concerning the Mayorship rotation understanding, especially now that Ndi Igwe Dunukofia have issued a clear and comprehensive resolution addressing all outstanding ambiguities.

However, I find it necessary to ask a simple question: who exactly is one “Chief Sir Chibuike Nwoye”? For the record, no such name exists within APGA Dunukofia. So, who is this pseudo-macho character? The impostor who addressed himself as APGA Chieftain even used APGA letterhead paper to publish the fake write-up.

I recently came across a concocted and misleading write-up titled; Dunukofia Local Government Chairman: The Turn of Ifitedunu and The Unlawful Involvement of Traditional Rulers in Political Affairs. This senseless write-up aimed at stripping our revered traditional rulers of their legitimate right to promote peace, fairness, and equity in Dunukofia through balanced representation in elective positions.

It is instructive to note that each time traditional rulers issue a sound and well-considered resolution, certain individuals, once it does not favour them, immediately rise to challenge it, even resorting to fake names and anonymous social media handles.

For clarity, the rotational understanding governing the House of Assembly seat, which enabled Ifitedunu to enjoy two terms and is currently being enjoyed by Umunnachi, was duly signed by Igwe Dr. Robert Eze (Okofia VI) of Ukpo, on behalf of Ndi Igwe Dunukofia. These same individuals raised no objections then, because it suited their interests.

Previously, this same group relied heavily on the 24th May 2024 document, also signed by the traditional rulers, without questioning their role or alleging that traditional rulers were apolitical. Now that the same traditional rulers have issued a recent resolution clarifying that same document, and the clarification does not favour them, they suddenly claim traditional rulers are apolitical. This inconsistency exposes their insincerity.

The spineless and cowardly individual operating under the non-existent name Chief Sir Chibuike Nwoye has taken mischief to another level. I have carefully read the recent resolution of the traditional rulers and found nowhere that they endorsed any candidate or political party.

The Traditional rulers, in the interest of peace, fairness, and stability, merely stated that elective positions in Dunukofia shall be rotational. As custodians of the land, do they not have the right, and indeed the responsibility, to take steps that promote peace and development in the Local Government Area?

At no point did traditional rulers endorse the incumbent Mayor or any other aspirant. They simply clarified the rotational framework, just as it applies to the House of Assembly seat in Dunukofia.

Both documents clearly state that the Mayorship should follow the same rotational pattern as the House of Assembly seat. And how does that run? Two terms per community.

Ifitedunu served two terms. Umunnachi is preparing for two terms. So what exactly is the issue?

The traditional rulers have now resolved the ambiguity conclusively. By now, this matter ought to be settled.

Oma akwa awu aru makwalu onwe ya!

I remain,
