Controversial Nigerian singer, Darlington Okoye, better known as Speed Darlington, has said that the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has no right to declare him wanted.
Bellnews reported that the federal government, through the NAPTIP had declared Darlington wanted in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
The agency made the announcement on Friday via its official Instagram handle, @officialnaptip.
“WANTED BY NAPTIP. Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, is wanted in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
“Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is urged to contact NAPTIP immediately. Call: 07030000203, info@naptip.gov.ng,” the statement read.
The agency had previously invited the singer for questioning after he allegedly admitted during a live Instagram video to having sex with a 15-year-old girl, but he reportedly failed to respond to the invitation.
However, in an interview with Saturday Beats, Darlington maintained that he is unbothered about the situation, stressing that his lawyer will handle it.
He said, “Thanks for the heads up, but I’m not worried. They have no right to declare me wanted. My lawyer has already sent it (the ‘wanted’ posted) to me. They just want to embarrass themselves. My lawyer will handle it.”
