President Tinubu to Sign Tax Reform Bills Into Law Today

President Bola Tinubu will today, Thursday, June 26, enact four tax reform bills into law at a formal signing ceremony scheduled for the Presidential Villa.

Bellnews reports that the bills secured legislative approval about two weeks ago.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

“When the new tax laws become operational, they are expected to significantly transform tax administration in the country, leading to increased revenue generation, improved business environment, and a boost in domestic and foreign investments,” Onanuga stated in a statement.

 

The four bills set for presidential assent include the Nigeria Tax Bill, the Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill.

Among the dignitaries expected at the signing ceremony are Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas; Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele; House Majority Leader Julius Ihonvbere; and the chairmen of the Finance Committees in both legislative chambers.

Also on the guest list are Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, in his capacity as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum; Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; and Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.
