Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has regained his freedom after spending about one week in police custody.

Bellnews reports that the singer was arraigned on January 12 before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, over charges bordering on assault, theft, causing harm and resisting arrest.

Portable was also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, reportedly valued at ₦12 million.

The court, however, denied him bail after the police officer involved in the case was absent, leading to his continued detention.

Following his release, a video that has since gone viral showed the singer surrounded by associates who jubilantly welcomed him back.

In the clip, Portable jokingly announced a new nickname for himself, declaring, “My name is now Innocenty,” amid cheers from his supporters.

Reacting to his release, Portable’s manager, Baby Luv, took to Instagram to appreciate the singer’s first wife, Bewaji, for standing by him throughout the ordeal.

Sharing a photo of Portable with Bewaji, she wrote, “All glory to God. Grace spoke, mercy prevailed. #Freedom. She stayed when it was hardest. God honoured her faith #Thankful.”

This is not the first time the singer has been in detention. Since rising to fame in 2022, Portable has been arrested,.
